Puppy Love

I love Pinterest!
(If you're not sure what Pinterst is, you've clearly been hiding under a rock- Download it NOW!)

There are so many cool & awesome things on there. I have quite a few boards going with all sorts of things. It's also a FABULOUS time waster, which is exactly what I was doing yesterday afternoon as I sat on the lounge browsing perfect picture after perfect picture. Which lead me to this:

And this:

And it got me thinking of a little project I could easily accomplish.

Our little dog Buster is a big part of our family. He's a one year old miniature Pinscher and the boys absolutely love him & him them. It seemed fitting that Buster should have his own little organised space of the house, just like the rest of us.

I found a small bare spot just outside the kitchen that would work perfectly for this project. I jumped straight onto Etsy to download some puppy prints & popped them into some spare frames I had.

A quick trip to the local cheap shop got him some new bowls, a placemat & some toys. Now all I had to do was pull it all together!

Here's how it turned out:

Being a small, very short-haired dog, he really feels the cold in Winter so this little green jumper I found on eBay is perfect for keeping him warm. The basket holds his toys & I've also hung up his harness & lead for easy access. I don't have any bedding in this area as he sleeps at the bottom of our bed every night (spoilt pup!)

I think Buster is pretty pleased with his new space & I'm pleased that we have another organised area of the house.

WIN WIN!!

Do you have a inside dog?
Do they have their own doggy pad?

Weekend DIY Projects

I've been looking for one of these old school desks for a while now and yesterday I managed to finally get my hands on one!

It was in excellent condition but needed a coat of paint to give it a new lease on life, so I headed to our paint stash & pulled out two colours that I thought would work. I think the result was a success!

The top coulour is Octavius Oak and the bottom colour is Virtue. I love this combination & the boys now have a trendy, solid workbench for all sorts of creativity.

I'd been well and truly bitten by the painting bug so decided to give this table a makeover while I was keen.

I'd been looking at getting a coffee table for the lounge room for a while but the budget wasn't going to stretch that far for a while and it turns out this table would be perfect!

Again, I used what we had on hand, doing the legs in Dulux Water Worn & the top in Antique White USA.

So there you have it, two quick & easy projects all done in an afternoon. I'll probably look at putting some sort of sealant over both tables just to get some extra wear out of them but I'm extremely happy with these easy upcycle projects.

How was your weekend?
Done any up-cycling lately?

The Boys Bedroom Tour

In typical style here, the boy's have switched bedrooms a fair bit over the past few years. But I have to say this room is definately my favourite & they will be sharing now until the time comes when we are able to afford an extension (or we move to a bigger house!)

I've been fiddling with this room for ages, restyling & rearranging things until I'm happy with it. And I think I'm finally content with it. Angus has just got a new bed & the plan is to get William a new one for his birthday in July. One that will suit his needs heading into school next year. I like the fact that their beds are at either end of the room as it allows me to create a space that is suited to each of them & make it a little more personal.

I love this view of the room. These paper lanterns were used at our Easter party last year and they were just too nice to throw away so they ended up here & it's the perfect spot.

This bed was only installed this week for Angus & I am loving the colour. And just $99 from Kmart!!

The zebra print, house shelves, quilt cover & cushion are also all from Kmart (love that place!)

Wooden letter A from Typo. The other prints are from Etsy and the triangle wall stickers are from Walleffect.

The little red chair was a gift from my mother in law & footstool from Kmart. The kids love to sit here throughout the day & read a book or two!

We have a playroom where the majority of the toys live so this is just a little area where the boys can come & play & have some peace & quiet. This car storage idea has been the BEST THING EVER! It really is the best way to store cars.

This is William's side of the room. Monkey picture is actually a tea towel from Bed, Bath N' Table. All other prints were purchased from Etsy. Batman pillowcaae from Down That Little Lane

These costumes have had so much wear! The boys love dressing up. Both purchased from Big W. Prints from Etsy & Wooden W letter from Typo.

Hope you've enjoyed this little tour of the boy's room & like it as much as I do!

Do your kids share a room?

Angus Turns Three

Yesterday was Angus' third birthday. I truly love seeing my children grow up & couldn't be happier that the baby stages are well & truly behind us.

We celebrated this latest milestone with some family & friends & Angus had a great time.

Happy Birthday little man.

The Playroom

I love playrooms!

We've created a few since the kids were born & I thought I'd share the latest one with you. My kids don't have a lot of toys.
They love learning & playing games on their iPads & our house is quite small & I don't want it filled with toys!

They share a bedroom and all of the lego lives in there so I needed a space to store all of the other toys that kept them neat & tidy & away from the living areas of the house.

We have a small room between the dining room & main bathroom and after the last change of furniture around the house, this room became the perfect spot for the playroom.

I'm a big lover of shelving with labelled baskets. I find it's the best way to keep everything as organised & tidy as possible.

I recently moved these super hero prints out of the boy's bedroom & think this is the perfect spot for them.
You can find them here

So there you have it. Our current playroom. It's not huge but everything fits & it means we can enjoy a toy-free lounge room (whoo hoo!)

Do you have a playroom?
I'd love to see yours!

Our Home- An Organised Space #3 - The Pantry

Today, I thought I'd give the pantry a good clean out & reorganise as it's been a while since I took stock of everything in there.

This is my pantry set up, before the makeover.

It was starting to get pretty untidy & I was losing track of what was in there so the first step was to take EVERYTHING out. This is really important to give you a good idea of the space you have & how to use it & you can get rid of all the things that you no longer need or are out of date as you restock.

Once you have everything out, give the shelves a good clean & then start to restock. The best way is to put likes with likes, so all the sauces together, all of the canned food together etc. I find baskets are really handy to help group things & keep it all together as well making it looking neat & tidy

Here is how my pantry is organised:

Top Shelf: Baking supplies, tea & coffee
2nd Shelf: Biscuits & Kid's Snacks
3rd Shelf: Cooking supplies, flours & sugars
4th Shelf: Sauces & Canned products
Bottom Shelf: Condiments, Oils & Packet products

I already had labels on my Tupperware containers so just needed to add some to the baskets

Don't forget to purge anything that hasn't been used for ages or is out of date!

All up it took me about half an hour to reorganise. A fairly quick & easy project.

How's your pantry looking? Need a makeover? Have a go & show me your progress!!
